Introduction to Mindful Scrap Crafting - Tuesday Class

£84.00

Tuesday 24th February - 31st March 6 weeks

10am - 12.30pm

In these fantastically creative sessions, what you produce is secondary to the process of spending mindful time making alongside your fellow crafters.

Now accepting new students, this course is suitable for anyone interested in trying out this low-pressure form of crafting for the first time.

The course structure is unashamedly loose - there will always be a small suggested project available to follow, or participants are always encouraged to go with their ideas, head off on tangents and work on something that takes their fancy in any given session.

Textiles, thread and stitch often feature in our projects, ranging from very simple, beginner friendly stitching, right through to intricate textile art or more classic hand embroidery, but we also include papercrafts, wirework, collage, unusual materials, yarns & fibres, beadwork, even small scale weaving.

Every week, you will have access to an inspirational collection of remnant materials in Anna's 'scraps buffet'; textiles, papers, haberdashery, fibres, lace and other things depending on our projects.

Everything is reclaimed, vintage, offcut or otherwise rescued - luxe, surprising, beautiful and always interesting.

Take time for yourself, get lost rummaging in a basket of gorgeous scraps, let go of expectations and embrace the opportunity to play with colours and textures. Learn to look at the small pieces differently.

Please note that there may occasionally be additional material costs of a few pounds, which are payable to your tutor, depending on projects and materials. These will always be optional and with prior notice.

£125.00

8 Week Course Thursday 29th January - 26th March

10am-12pm

Join Master Florist Katherine Kear in this ever popular course and learn the art of flower arranging.

You will be exploring the different aspects of flower arranging from floral design, materials needed and condition of flowers, history of floral design and what the difference is between flower arranging and floristry.

Each week, you will create beautiful arrangements which you can take home or gift to a loved one. This autumn, the course will cover a series of formal and informal designs using a selection of seasonal flowers, foliage, fruit and vegetables, as Harvest falls in the middle it would be a shame not to include it. A variety of containers will be used and one design will include plants and flowers. We will concentrate on a wide variety of garden flowers where possible as well as commercially grown ones. Some weeks it will be a single variety challenge.

This relaxed and enjoyable course is suitable for those individuals who have a passion for flowers and wish to acquire skills in arranging them creatively, maximising the potential of a limited selection, and discovering innovative ways to present floral arrangements. Participants will be guided in selecting and utilising their own materials, containers, foliage, and flowers, thereby encouraging personal expression and choice.

Materials:

All flowers and other materials for the fist session are included in the ticket price. In each consecutive session, students will be informed of the following week's project and will be required to bring their own flowers.

Choices will be offered but an estimated cost of flowers for each session will be between £5 and £10.

Some projects (approximately 5 sessions) will require hard to access materials, such as biodegradable florist foam, special varieties of grass etc. in which case the tutor will purchase the materials for the whole class and will charge the students in the session/in the following session. The cost of these will range between £2 and £8 per session where relevant.
