Krystna Dembny questions through her work the social and cultural attitudes to the non-youthful, non-perfect body. The one certainty we have is that we will be older tomorrow than we are today and this brings with it unknowns.
Working with her indomitable friend Sally, who suffered from breast cancer and who wanted to show folk that age and illness should not be brushed aside as visually unpalatable, Krystyna made Sally the exemplar of the naked older woman, imperfect in size, shape and health but with an upbeat attitude and defiance.
The exhibition includes paintings, ceramics and textile works and takes the viewer through the personal journey of one woman who through her history exposes the vulnerabilities and challenges of many older women and their amazing courage and humour.
Krystyna Dembny has academic degrees in Law, a 35 year career in Neurophysiology and a passion for art and human resilience.
This exhibition will run from 25 - 28 September, 10am - 4pm.
To book your 20 minute time slot please email admin@kingshillhouse.org.uk with your choice of preferred date, or call the office on 01453 549 133 and we will allocate your time slot for you.
We will be operating a one way system around the exhibition and face masks must be worn at all times.
