We always love hosting Tyndale Arts - an annual showcase of artists, craftsmen and makers based in the lovely town of Dursley in Gloucestershire. Tyndale Arts aims to make art accessible to all, which is exactly our ethos too and this year is no exception.

To kick off Tyndale Arts 2022, which is open at a selection of venues across Dursley and all within walking distance, we have a very exciting event. Join us for an evening with Aardman Art Director, Richard Edmunds, for a talk at 7pm, Thursday 29th September -  "Behind the lens - the art of making an animated film".

Tyndale continues through the weekend with Kingshill House's doors open 10am-5pm on Saturday 1st October and 10am-4pm Sunday 2nd October. Come and explore the beautiful works on display, meet the artists and makers, grab a coffee, lunch, enjoy the music, and even experience live demonstrations in the art room.

Ever wondered whilst reading the credits of a film, what all those job titles are and what they do? Well come along and join Richard Edmunds - Art Director who will be talking about the many stop-motion animated programmes and films he has worked on, over his 22 year career in the film industry.

He’ll be talking you through the processes of film making from an art department point of view, with scale models, technical drawings, visual images, puppets and props. Taking you on a ‘Grand’ backstage tour of a film studio and showing you how some of our best-loved animated programmes such as Shaun the Sheep, Early Man, Robin Robin and the nations favourite comedy man and dog duo, Wallace and Gromit, come to life!

Edmunds is also exhibiting some of his works at Kingshill House during the Tyndale Arts weekend, which is certainly worth a visit.

Artist Demonstrations at Kingshill House

Exhibiting in the art room this year there will be two artists who will also be sharing some of their techniques over the the weekend.

Clare Mahoney's  ceramics reflect her love for the natural world, capturing its organic textures, patterns and rhythms through the receptive medium of clay. She  will be demonstrating hand building with porcelain, and some surface decoration techniques, with low relief press moulding

Sarah Davis is a stained glass artist with a particular interest in glass painting, she will also be exhibiting in the art room and will be working and demonstrating her techniques.

We also have Miranda Songer who will be demonstrating her finely detailed calligraphic artwork. Miranda Songer creates high quality prints of her own finely detailed calligraphic artwork. Each piece has its beginnings in the natural world and reflects Miranda's whimsical eye and love of detailed, layered patterning. She works with techniques based on Traditional English Copperplate Calligraphy. She is exhibiting at Leaf and Ground for Tyndale Arts.
