Does He Really Do More Of That…?!
Philip Douch reads his own short stories for grown-ups. Disarmingly simple. Beautifully crafted. Expertly delivered. And funny too. After last year’s hugely enjoyable show Philip brings us a new selection of tales – warm and witty, sometimes just a little suggestive and sometimes gently moving.
Philip has read at The Green Man festival; on the back of a land rover; at the Cheltenham Literature Festival, and at a pirates party (he preferred the pirates but the lit fest looks better on the CV). After a successful 2023 tour he’s back at Kingshill House with guest readers Andrew Stevenson and Linny Gray. He assures us that you should definitely come and see him.
Suitable for ages 16+.
Running time – 2½ hours.

Philip Douch is a playwright with short plays performed professionally at The Cheltenham Everyman Studio Theatre, The Alma Tavern and Theatre in Bristol, and the Landor pub theatre on the London fringe. The lead actress in his full length play Charlie for the Cotswold Players won the 2022 South West Rose Bowl award for Best Actress in a Drama – the only piece of new dramatic writing to secure an award in this regional celebration of amateur theatre.
As an actor he has played a variety of roles, including in the Cheltenham Everyman Theatre’s main stage production of Fly Eddie Fly – a musical in which he played Eddie the Eagle’s dad alongside the ski-jumping Eagle himself. He has written and performed two one man shows for theatre festivals in Barnstaple and Stroud – Celebrity Love Hero and (Reasonably) Great Sporting Moments, the latter including a riveting audience reconstruction of a drawn cricket Test Match between England and South Africa. |
