Introduction to Mindful Scrap Crafting - Tuesday Class
4 week course - 29th April 2025
10am - 12:30pm
In these fantastically creative sessions, what you produce is secondary to the process of spending mindful time making alongside your fellow crafters.
Now accepting new students, this course is suitable for anyone interested in trying out this low-pressure form of crafting for the first time.
The course structure is unashamedly loose - there will always be a small suggested project available to follow, or participants are always encouraged to go with their ideas, head off on tangents and work on something that takes their fancy in any given session.
Textiles, thread and stitch often feature in our projects, ranging from very simple, beginner friendly stitching, right through to intricate textile art or more classic hand embroidery, but we also include papercrafts, wirework, collage, unusual materials, yarns & fibres, beadwork, even small scale weaving.
Every week, you will have access to an inspirational collection of remnant materials in Anna's 'scraps buffet'; textiles, papers, haberdashery, fibres, lace and other things depending on our projects.
Everything is reclaimed, vintage, offcut or otherwise rescued - luxe, surprising, beautiful and always interesting.
Take time for yourself, get lost rummaging in a basket of gorgeous scraps, let go of expectations and embrace the opportunity to play with colours and textures. Learn to look at the small pieces differently.
Please note that there may occasionally be additional material costs of a few pounds, which are payable to your tutor, depending on projects and materials. These will always be optional and with prior notice.
Anna Marshall is a long term multi-discipline crafter and hosts her Peace&Craft workshops around the Cotswolds and online. Growing up in a family of lots of different handcrafters and inheriting a pre-disposition for using what you have, Anna has tried most crafts, enjoyed the majority, favoured & practiced several and collected skills, techniques & inspirations along the way to create her own blended style of stitching, snipping, sticking and sketching.
After an eclectic career path, Anna is now a parent of primary age twins and works out of her home studio in South Gloucestershire on various creative endeavours, including selling her own handmade products and running regular creative sessions for a charity supporting new mothers facing post-natal challenges as well as her own scrapcrafting workshops.
Anna works alongside participants for a relaxed, inspirationally creative environment. Her simple & satisfying crafting sessions are accessible for all abilities and often offer demonstrations, techniques & examples rather than step by step projects. Anna will always encourage recycling, reclamation, 'make do and mend' and using every scrap, alongside helping her students find peace & self-care through a focus on the process over results.
