Join us for this enjoyable and creative hands-on workshop which introduces you to the wonderful world of stained glass. Using the jewel like qualities of glass you will learn to make your own delightful seaside themed suncatchers.
This is a guided workshop suitable for both beginners and those with some experience and everyone will be working at the same pace during the day. At each stage in the process, Caroline will begin with a practical demonstration so that everyone is clear what they need to do next.

About the day
What will I make?
You will have a glorious choice of Seaside designs to work from including beach huts, seagulls, boats, fish, seahorses, lighthouses, ......! all of which are suitable for those with little or no experience.
At the end of the course, you will have learnt many new skills and will take home your very own Glass Suncatchers to be proud of as well as a new skill for life!
What is Copper Foiling?
Copper foiling, also known as the Tiffany Technique, involves scoring and shaping coloured glass, which is then wrapped in a self-adhesive copper tape and soldered together creating 2D and 3D objects.

Creative Summer School Soiree – Saturday 16th July, 6–8.30pm
At the end of the week, we welcome you to join us for a Summer School Soiree!
Students and tutors will be invited to exhibit their work at the House, enjoy a glass of fizz, and celebrate the variety of crafts made throughout the week. If you would like to exhibit the work that you have created during the Creative Summer School then please let your tutor or the Kingshill House team know. Works will be displayed for the Soiree evening only, and then you are free to take them home or collect them the following week.
About your tutor
Caroline Lambert is a very experienced, enthusiastic and patient tutor and has taught Stained Glass at Kingshill House and other venues in all its various forms for over 15 years. She divides her time between teaching adults and children and a practising artist. She has completed a number of public commissions and her work is sold through galleries and shows.

- Cut glass safely and competently
- Choose an appropriate selection of glass for your project
- Cut glass to a prepared pattern
- Grind glass safely and effectively
- Wrap each piece of glass neatly in copperfoil
- Flux ready for soldering
- Use a soldering iron safely
- Tin each piece
- Solder the pieces together
- Attach hooks and decorative wire details
- Apply patina
