Introduction to Stained Glass - A Seaside Sun Catcher
Monday 11th July 10am - 4pm
Join us for this enjoyable and creative hands-on workshop which introduces you to the wonderful world of stained glass. Using the jewel like qualities of glass you will learn to make your own delightful seaside themed suncatchers.
This is a guided workshop suitable for both beginners and those with some experience and everyone will be working at the same pace during the day. At each stage in the process, Caroline will begin with a practical demonstration so that everyone is clear what they need to do next.
What will I make?
You will have a glorious choice of Seaside designs to work from including beach huts, seagulls, boats, fish, seahorses, lighthouses, ......! all of which are suitable for those with little or no experience.
At the end of the course, you will have learnt many new skills and will take home your very own Glass Suncatchers to be proud of as well as a new skill for life!
What is Copper Foiling?
Copper foiling, also known as the Tiffany Technique, involves scoring and shaping coloured glass, which is then wrapped in a self-adhesive copper tape and soldered together creating 2D and 3D objects.
You will learn to:

- Choose an appropriate selection of glass for your project
- Cut glass to a prepared pattern
- Grind glass safely and effectively
- Wrap each piece of glass neatly in copperfoil
- Flux ready for soldering
- Use a soldering iron safely
- Tin each piece
- Solder the pieces together
