Johnny’s gorgeous and seemingly effortless vocals have graced the folk-scene since the emergence of Decameron in the early 1970s. An experienced solo performer, accompanying himself on piano and guitar, he is a talented songwriter and a fine interpretative singer.
Johnny has recorded over fourteen albums including his latest album River of Dreams, The Winding Stair, Borderland, several Christmas albums, as well as Edge of Day with writer Laurie Lee. He recently celebrated the 40th Anniversary of Forest & Vale & High Blue Hill his classic album of Gloucestershire and Cotswold songs, and 2026 will be the 50th year of his solo career.
Playing guitar and piano, his songs are always melodic and evocative.
He works solo, in a duo with Paul Burgess (ex-John Kirkpatrick Band),
and as a trio for an annual All on a Winter’s Night tour with Paul Burgess
and Dik Cadbury (Julie July Band, ex-Steve Hackett, and Decameron).
For over twenty years, he presented an Acoustic Music Show on BBC Radio Gloucestershire and BBC radio across the West.
