Qigong & Meditation - Tuesday evening
Join Joe for an evening meditation session.
Shifu Joe has been teaching for over 17 years and has trained in martial arts for 34 years. He has trained at the Shaolin Temple, Songshan (with Shi Xing Jun) and Zixao Palace, Wudang (Xiao Long You, Xuezhi). He has trained with many notable figures such as Shi YanXin, Geshe Damcho Yonten and Dr Yeung.
Qigong (pronounced chee-gung) is a mind-body-spirit practice incorporating intention, breathing, and movement for mental and physical well being. Qigong uses gentle slow movements to encourage the meridians in the body to open and flow - the same points used in acupuncture. These movements promote and focus energy or Qi into the vital organs, ligaments, tendons, tissue, and muscle.
Qigong exercises can support the healing of chronic illness, emotional stress, physical and spiritual well-being. Many Martial Arts (such as Kung Fu, and Taji Quan) have borrowed and contain many elements of Qigong.
Meditation draws from chan (zen) meditation and includes standing, seated and walking meditation based on Buddhist and Taoist practices. Joe's teaching focusses on mindfulness, compassion and single pointed meditation and works both with those new to meditation and experienced practitioners. Meditation promotes concentration, clarity and a calm way of understanding the nature of all things, resulting in profound internal peace and positivity.
