Hot Glass Pumpkin/Bauble Blowing
Saturday 5 October - ten minute slots
For this Autumn workshop we are offering the chance to blow your own hot glass pumpkin or bauble!
Our resident glass blower, Ben Gough, will be showing us how it’s done and helping you to make your own special decoration in your choice of colours.
There are no age restrictions on this activity but children must be accompanied by an adult and we advise that bauble blowing is most suitable for children age 10+. It's a wonderful family activity that is as much fun to watch as it is to do!
One 10 minute slot will allow you to blow one bauble or pumpkin.
Please note that it takes several hours for the glass to cool down so you may not be able to take your product home on the day. If you are unable to return to Kingshill House at a later date to collect your finished product i.e. if you’re travelling from afar, please email us at [email protected] to discuss postage options.
Whilst studying 3 Dimensional Design for Glass at Surrey Institute of Art and Design, Ben Gough became fascinated by the manipulation of hot glass, in particular off-hand glassware production. Bens' career as a Production Glassblower has given him experience of a wide range of glassblowing techniques and the skills to make many decorative objects. Over the years, he has developed a keen interest in furnace design and development and presently splits his time between making glass, running workshops and building furnaces.
