Maternal Journal Creative Workshop
Saturday 24 June, 10:30am-12:30pm
Join artist and mum Athene Greig for a 2 hour Maternal Journal session during which Athene will introduce what creative journaling is, guide you through a journal activity and hold space for sharing with each other in a relaxed and supportive environment.
Maternal Journal* uses creative journaling to help restore some balance around the feelings and challenges we might experience, both physically and emotionally, through pregnancy, birth and parenthood. Journaling gives us the chance to check in on good days and bad days and put things into perspective. It is proven to reduce stress and improve mental health and wellbeing.
*Maternal Journal is for anyone who has experienced pregnancy, given birth, identifies as a mother or as a woman or non-binary carer.
- Babies under 1 are welcome to join us.
- All materials and light refreshments provided.
- You don't need to be 'creative'!
- We will work on paper but feel free to bring a journal.
Visit www.maternaljournal.org for further info on the Maternal Journal movement.
This workshop will be followed by a picnic in the garden (weather dependent) with other maternal journal members, which you are welcome to join.
Athene Greig is a Stroud based artist who makes watercolour paintings exploring gesture, colour and light. She studied Fine Art at the Glasgow School of Art from 2001-2005 and took part in the Turps Studio Programme, London from 2015-2017. Following a 10 year period living in London and working for several contemporary artists, she and her family have relocated to Gloucestershire in search of a gentler pace of life. Athene joined an online Maternal Journal group in May 2021 as a means to connect with other mothers during the pandemic and have a positive creative outlet. She is delighted to be able to share creative journaling at Kingshill House with her regular maternal journal sessions.
