Enjoy a half day workshop learning about the traditional craft of Indian Block Printing with talented designer and maker, Clare Walsh. You will look at traditional fabrics and photos of the block printing process in India.
After a demonstration you will print onto different types of paper using the wide selection of hand carved blocks available and experiment with borders, repeat patterns and colour. You will then choose to print a tea towel or bag to take home.
What you will need:
- Please bring an apron or wear old clothes.
All materials and equipment provided.
About the tutor:
Clare is a Designer/ Maker in the Cotswolds. Inspired by the countryside, she designs and screen prints her botanical designs onto linen in her home studio. Having had a career in Education, Clare loves to teach workshops and inspire others with her love of colour, textile techniques and surface design. Her enthusiasm for Indian Block Printing is as a result of travels in India and collecting examples of hand block printed fabrics and hand carved blocks.
