Autumn Term
Absolute Beginners Oil Painting
Starting Monday 12th September 10am - 12pm
Brilliant for those who would love to give oil painting a try but not sure where to start.
In this course you will learn everything you need to get started in this exciting painting medium. Your experienced tutor will guide you every step of the way to give you the basic knowledge and skills that you need.
Oil painting can be confusing for the beginner painter. What colours should you buy? (There are so many!) When should you use paint thinner? How and when do you use painting mediums? All of these questions and many more will be answered in this course.
Your tutor, Warren Sealey, has years of experience teaching all levels of artists including beginners. He will make sure you come away with a solid understanding of everything you need to know to get started in oil painting.
Warren will lead you through carefully selected paintings in a variety of subject matter including still life and landscapes. He will demonstrate every step of the way so that the teaching is as clear as can be. This will be a fun, interesting and friendly course.
It's perfect way to spend a peaceful Friday afternoon, with the sun shining through our gorgeous Georgian windows.

Oil Painting for Improvers
Starting Monday 12th September 1 - 3pm
In this course you will develop your oil painting skills. The tutor will provide a range of prints for you to choose from, or you can bring your own projects along to learn in this fun and friendly class.
Learners can tailor-make their experience in this class by selecting projects which meet their particular interests. The tutor will provide projects covering a wide range of subject matter including portraits, landscapes and still lifes, or learners are welcome to bring along their own projects too.
Learners need to have some experience of oil painting to attend this class. Your tutor, Warren Sealey, has years of experience teaching all levels of artists. He will explain and demonstrate techniques to help you get the most out of the class and really develop your oil painting skills.
This will be a fun, interesting and friendly course. Be inspired by those around you and by the beautiful building that the course is held in - a perfect way to kickstart your week.

Mindful Scrap Crafting

This is a fantastically creative course which requires no craft experience.
Learn how to look at your scraps differently and learn the peace of crafting simply for the fun of it with Anna Marshall on this introductory scrap-crafting course.
You will have access to an inspirational collection of remnant materials - textiles, papers, haberdashery, fibres, lace... reclaimed, vintage, luxe, surprising... always beautiful and always interesting.
Whether you've never put thread to needle, or are a skilled crafter already, this is a no-rules activity that focuses more on process and experience than results.
Take time for yourself, get lost rummaging in a basket of gorgeous scraps, let go of expectations and embrace the opportunity to play with colours & textures.
While products are secondary to the making here, nobody goes home empty handed. The course will shape around participants and include mini projects such as 'scrapstack' tiny artworks & embellishments, snippet tape making, layered textile art, weaving with reclaimed scrap yarns & fibres, mark-making and multi-media collage.

Handloom Weaving for Absolute Beginners - Evening

6 week course - Thursday 8th September 6 - 8pm
This is a brilliant course for those with an interest in weaving but with no prior experience - come along to this weekly evening course where you will learn all about yarn, the loom and experiment with different techniques and materials.
Weaving helps keep your mind sharp whilst allowing you to be creative. It acts as a means of relaxation and therapy.
'Weaving has a narrative, a voice of its' own through which we can communicate. We can express ourselves through colour, the yarns/fibres we use or through structure. Every piece of hand woven cloth contains a part of the maker and has the propensity to have an impact on the receiver.' - Alyson Matthews
Warp to weave. Learn how to design and plan a warp, set up and dress a 4 shaft loom and weave a selection of samples. Learn how to design your cloth and calculate a warp and all the processes required to set up your loom, from using a warping mill to threading the heddles.
You will learn how to read a lifting plan and be introduced to the standard weave structures. you will learn the technical knowledge required to start weaving independently.

Beginners Watercolours

Starting Friday 16th September 1pm - 3pm
Brilliant for those who would love to give painting a try but not sure where to start. This is a really popular course, due to the fantastic teaching from your tutor, Warren Sealey.
Learn the basics of watercolours while building your confidence, and create a beautiful piece of artwork each week. The majority of the students on this course go on to attend the Improvers session, to develop their skills.
It's perfect way to spend a peaceful Friday afternoon, with the sun shining through our gorgeous Georgian windows.
