Kingshill House, Kingshill Lane, Dursley, Gloucestershire, GL11 4BZ
In 2005 Kingshill House celebrated its 300th year. This Grade II listed Georgian house, in the heart of Dursley, is one of the towns principle arts and entertainment venues.
In 1705 Thomas Purnell purchased Kingshill House from the King family and established it as a late 18th century gabled mansion. The House passed through many hands until it was bought by R.A. Lister, who built houses on most of the land, but gave the House itself to Dursley RDC under covenant.
The House was used as offices by Stroud District Council until the early 1980's and remained boarded up until 1990, when a group of local volunteers leased it from Stroud District Council, refurbished it and turned it into an arts venue for the whole community.
